The Starspotted Smooth-hound is a modest-sized shark, reaching about 3–4 feet in length. Its dusky-gray body is covered with small white spots, giving it a starry appearance that makes it easy to recognize. Living along sandy and muddy seafloors, it feeds on shrimp, crabs, and small fish. While not a giant predator, it plays an important role in balancing coastal ecosystems and is an excellent example of the diversity among smooth-hound sharks.
