DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
This jaw comes from the collection of Dr. Gordon Hubbell. Great teeth. He didn't move any forward as is common practice when preparing jaws with broken teeth.
The prickly shark (Echinorhinus brucus) is a rare and unusual deep-water species found in temperate oceans around the world. Named for the thorn-like denticles that give its skin a rough, prickly texture, this shark moves slowly along the ocean floor, feeding on smaller fish and invertebrates in dimly lit depths. Its teeth are small but sharp, perfectly suited for grasping soft-bodied prey.
