DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
This jaw comes from the renowned collection of Dr. Gordon Hubbell.
The jaw is nearly perfect in every way and hung on his wall for decades.
The Greenland shark is one of the most mysterious creatures in the ocean, known for inhabiting the icy waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic. Slow moving and deep dwelling, this species is famous for its incredible longevity, some individuals are believed to live for centuries. Unlike the triangular slicing teeth of great white sharks, the Greenland shark’s lower teeth are broad and blade-like, designed for cutting chunks of prey in the dark, cold depths.
